Since, they sold more than 160 millions iPod ! It is really a huge success and it will very probably continue for many years. But why such a great success ? There are <strong>several keys</strong> : the quality, style, use of the product and the marketing.<span id="more-102"></span></p>
<p>I found some answers in <a href="http://www.besttechie.net/2008/03/01/the-ipod-success-thank-the-marketing-department/">this article</a>. The author explains all the success story of iPod, it is very interesting. According to him, there are several points which explain it.</p>

I think that it is very sober and the same style was kept for all generations of the mp3 player, which makes it very recognizable. Moreover, the vast number of colours used (flashy or classic) makes it more attractive and customized.</span></p>

<p>Of course, the marketing is the key of the success. Why ? Because it makes the iPod known, among others. According to the authors, the used marketing made this effect :</p>

<p style="margin:0 0 .0001pt;"><span lang="EN-US">To achieve this goal, Apple promotes its products with a lot of advertisings not only in TV but also in the Internet, etc. On the ads, we see coloured people who are dancing on music of well known music bands. Music bands makes the promotion of iPod and <strong><em>vice-versa</em></strong>. Some example of music bands who promoted iPod in advertisements : Black eyed Peas, U2, Daft Punk, Feist, Coldplay and a lot of others … </span></p>

In this site, they show only what people want to see and can influence them : everything is beautiful, etc. It is a little bit like Marketing because Marketing always makes a product or a service attractive and they show us only what they want us to see, the &#8220;beautiful&#8221; part. <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span lang="EN-US">- <strong>And you are?</strong> : In this part, he describes himself very briefly. He is</span> writer and interaction design consultant</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span lang="EN-US">- <strong>Tell me more…</strong> : Here he writes his official biography with a lot of details about his professional experience. He includes also a list of his publications</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span lang="EN-US">- <strong>Are you for hire ?</strong> : In this part, the visitor can download his CV, his portfolio, visit his Flickr profile to see his photos, and there is also a link to “tweets”.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span lang="EN-US">- <strong>So what do you do exactly?</strong> He talkes about his background and his interests</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span lang="EN-US">- <strong>What do you want to do ?</strong> He lists the things he wants to do which allows him to use his skills like “mentor and lead a creative team</span></span>” or ”continue to understand how many things are created &#8211; from design to writing to coding &#8211; which really helps with that first point”</p>

<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="margin-left:0;text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span lang="EN-US">- The website of this about me presentation is <strong>very simple</strong>, maybe too much sober but it is <strong>pleasant</strong> to see and to read and the <strong>quality of his picture</strong> is very good.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="margin-left:0;text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span lang="EN-US">- The style of the writing is <strong>very clear</strong> and he has a lot of documents which <strong>complete his presentation</strong>, like the CV, the publications, his photos, etc.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="margin-left:0;text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span lang="EN-US">- He added too a <strong>lot of links</strong> in order to <strong>illustrate</strong> what he is talking about.</span></span></p>
<p style="margin-left:0;text-align:justify;">- The fact that he divided his “about me” in five parts makes it clearer and more organised.<!--more--></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span lang="EN-US">- His picture is <strong>too big</strong> and I think that it is <strong>dull</strong>, it is not a good <strong>contrast</strong>.</span></span></p>
